Do you all always buy genuine Apple ones? I’ve been buying them from amazon and none of them seem to last!

Has anyone bought any recently that you would recommend?

Yes you do need genuine ones.

Yes, get a genuine one and then get some 'cable biters' which protect them where they bend.

Normally I'm a genuine apple only kind of person but I bought one in IKEA as an emergency and it has lasted me well!

The amazon basics cord ones are brill, they’re about £10 I think, but still going strong a good year in!

I just bulk buy from eBay - pack of 5 for a couple of quid and they seem to last equally as well as the genuine ones.

I need a 2meter one (dont ask lol) and the ones I get are from Primark at £4 (used to be £3.50 ahh well) Love them. Do they last for ever? of course not, but the one I use to charge my IPhone overnight by my bed has been working for a year. Charger Just a thought as at that price, worth consideration.

Anker.

The end.

They’re great. The only one I’ve had fail was involved in a “what happens if I poke this cable into the 12V cigarette light socket in a car” debacle (answer: it blows a 20 Amp fuse while trashing the cable).

I am convinced Apple do something dodgy in their s/w upgrades once a phone gets past it's "normal" life. DH has an iphone6 that has been fine but since the last s/w patch it has stopped charging (from the amazon cable). We read somewhere that Apple were doing something to make non-authentic cables not function.

End result - he has come over to the light and bought Android.

Back in the real world, the lightning connector is prone to getting pocket fluff in it, and cleaning it out with a toothpick is usually all it takes. The cable needs to click home firmly and if it doesn’t it won’t charge.
