MP3 players... recommendations please

DH is looking to get one but it finding some very conflicting reports on various review sites on the net.

Can't afford an iPod so looking for something cheaper. They seem to range from under £30 up to £100 and we're not sure why..

Who has got one? What would people recommend?

I have an Ipod shuffle (currently £35 in Argos) and love it. has no display tho which could annoy some people.

look at capacity, does he want to be able to put 200 songs on or 2000?

look at them in shops, try them out for ease of use

My lodger just bought me a shuffle. Have finished loading it up, literally a few mins ago Its great. I dont cvareabout thedisplay because its for runnnig, so i wouldnt be looking anyway.

I bought mine for ds as he keeps damaging the cd's in the cd player, but i like it more than my iPod so he gets to use that and i'm keeping the shuffle
