Odd mouse behaviour

My mouse is going crazy.

It's a usb mouse, not one of those with the ball in.

It is the way it controls the cursor - very jerky, keeps shooting the cursor off everywhere and keeps freezing it. It was so bad that I replaced my mousemat, thinking that was the problem, but it is just as bad on the new one.

The odd thing is, if I ....

and this is where it gets daft.....

...use my chest instead of the mousemat (I swear I'm not making this up!) then it moves fine. So I end up moving the mouse around my breasts to control the cursor.

I do not want to have to fork out for a new mouse if it is not the problem.

Does anyone have a clue?

Does youre mouse have its own set of drivers if so try reinstalling them or updating them. Also try cleaning the mouse even though its not a ball mouse it may still have bit of dirt or dust bothering it.
Also is ther a possiblity that you can give me a list of running prossesses on youre pc.

If it's an optical mouse, they can be very fussy about mousemats - they usually don't like strong contrasts or absolutely black mats. My mouse sometimes does this - it's better in one of the USB ports than the others - no idea why
