Am looking to get ds a laptop, something to see him through GCSE's just wanted to know if this one looks like a reasonable deal? I know nothing about laptops really!

That would do just fine for school work. This one has a better processor and more disk space, but the one you have suggested will be slightly more robust, as the solid state disk will have a better chance of surviving being dropped.

Thank you that's really helpful. I just thought that he may also want to play games (fortnite/fifa) not essential as he has an xbox but would they run ok on either of these?

I'm not too clued up on gaming PCs but a quick Google suggests that they don't meet the minimum requirements for fortnite.
