Facebook-need help please

I was sent an email via facebook from a good friend so registered on the site to see her details. Only just realised it seems to make me public to whoever, including pics of me and ds and don't want that. If I deactivate does that remove all details? I would prefer just to delete but can't see that as an option. I found it really complicated working out how to make it non visable via privacy page so think preferable and easier to just delete. Can anyone help me??

I have also been doing this today and only just found the privacy page. If you click on edit setting by search then you can select what other people can see from your profile.

this seems to be the case.

thanks for your help. I have deactivated it and it seems to have gone. I don't think it is over clear on the site how to do it though (or perhaps it's me!)
