it's always from people i know who have pbviously signed up for it.

Is it from Facebook? If so, it means that they have annotated one of the pictures they've uploaded to say that you appear in it.

Facebook much better than mySpace IMO. I resisted for ages on the basis of not being 13 but eventually my 20-something SIL pinned me down and forced me to sign up, and now I quite like it. There are lots of other mothers my age (mid-thirties) on it (including quite a few Mumsnetters). You can set everything to private, which is nice.

I sound like a recruiter now...

Did you see my TAG sign thread - that was to do with buses. I had to phone the council to find out what a sign on the road saying TAG meant.

Maybe the could help you too? Or not.

There's a "privacy" link on the top menu bar -- go into that and you can set everything to only be seeable by your friends.
