I'm upstairs, with Virgin on the telly. Downstairs Sky is on, same channel. Yet Sky is ahead by a few seconds - why?!?!

At a guess the Virgin is travelling through a cable and the Sky is beamed direct to your dish.

I thought they were all on the same time!

my understanding is....
that SKY beams it down to earth....to virgin HQ (!!!) ...and they send it via cable....

so...if i'm right that explains the delay

i get the same on my radio...in my bedroom- bog standard FM....in the kitchen...DAB.
If i'm superspeedy...i can rush downstairs and heare what i heard upstairs again!

it's the same with terestrial tv vs sky. it's always off by a few nanoseconds.

there is a delay in getting the signal thru the cable.

its the same with tv thru an aerial vs sky. aerial is slightly quicker than sky.
