Laptop or Chromebook?

I need a laptop or Chromebook for using at work, it will predominantly be logged on to Citrix so won't need a lot of grunt.

Must be lightweight and have long battery life but also able to multitask (within Citrix).

I don't need a home computer as already have an iMac, I'd love a MacBook Air but don't want to spend that much!

Any suggestions? Will a Chromebook be enough?
