Hi, I'm trying to help my sen adult son delete his old Amazon Alexa app on android and then reinstall the app without all his old info/phone number on it. Is it possible?
We've been trying to get him set up most of the afternoon and I'm flagging badly. It's not helping that we're doing it all via conversing online.

He needs to log out of the app first, then a long press on the app will bring up the option to delete, then Into the play store to re install.

Hi Sweep, thanks for replying. He says he tried that but his data/info was still on the app when he downloaded it again.

I think he is still using his original purchase account when he downloads, so the download reinstalls all the original data concluding thats what is required. Not sure if a new 'purchasing' account would help, just a thought.

would it help if he signed out of amazon too or change passwords? Then it wouldn't have automatic access.

Have you tried signing out and then deleting the app. Failing that take all the data off the device and do a hard reset to clear all the apps

If it's an Android device hes got, I'm assuming it's maybe a Samsung or the like.
You don't need to do a hard/factory reset.
Tell your son to go in to his phone settings menu and near the bottom it should say apps or manage apps something like that. Click on that then scroll down to the Alexa app in the list, then click on that and just press uninstall/delete app.

Oh before you delete/uninstall the app in the settings menu, it should say to clear cache and data, click them as well

I'm going to see him tomorrow and we'll try your suggestions.
Thanks everyone.
