Excel experts: help needed with conditional formatting.

I've set up a spreadsheet for monitoring request emails sent and when they are responded to. (it's all internal to the business)

I have one column that set with a formula shows how long it's been since the request email has been. It displays in weeks and days.

I'd like the cells in this column to show orange when it's been two weeks, then red when it's four.

I'm having a lot of trouble doing it (I'm totally new to conditional formatting). Anyone help?

Does the fact that column has a formula in it make it not possible?

I can do this!

Hold on a second. No, it won't make a difference if there's no formula - but it should have a formula! Are you calculating that manually? It would be very easy to do with a formula.

Hang on and I'll open Excel.

Sorry, I misread that. I'm glad you have a formula there! It won't make a difference.

So do you only want those cells with "2" and "4" to be coloured in? What about other figures?

There’s no need for a formula. Just use the conditional formatting rules and set it up for 2s and 4s.

If you PM me a screenshot of your spreadsheet or I can give you step by step instructions

Select the column.

Select Conditional Formatting

Select Highlight Cells Rules

Select Equal To

In "Format Cells that are Equal to" put "2"

Then select Custom Format to show whatever cell colour you want

Then OK it and then repeat for the other one.

No it's not 2 and 4. It can be anything from '1 days' to '15 weeks, 4 days' and beyond.

I want to mark anything over 2 weeks orange (overdue) and anything over 4 weeks red (stern words overdue).
