DS's Kindle is broken I think, in that it will charge up and the landscape picture will appear, but then it will flash blank and couple of times and then go back to the landscape picture but I cannot do anything more with it than that.

Does anyone have any words of wisdom please?

Try a hard restart. I think it might vary a bit between models, but on my Paperwhite and my Mum's Voyage you hold down the off button for ages (around 60 seconds or so) until it flashes several times and goes blank. It'll then take several minutes to do a full restart.

Amazon have a guide here for restarting a generation 7.

I have tried that... it continues to flash, but absolutely nothing happens. I cannot get it to open, so can't even do a factory reset. It is just sitting next to me flashing annoyingly!

It basically started doing this about 2 weeks after the 1 year guarantee ran out, so I am Not Impressed. My ancient kindle (with the button keyboard at the bottom) has been going strong for about 10 years now, and this latest one has bitten the dust within 1+. Really annoyed.

Thanks for replying though!

Try letting the battery go completely flat - it can take a week+, then do a hard restart.

The battery was completely flat this morning sashh and I couldn't get any reaction out of it at all.... the only thing that was showing on it was a bit scary dead battery sign.

Sigh. I think it is hopeless. I'm really annoyed.

Ask for help on their online chat. They are usually really good

You need it to be completely flat, no picture at all just a blank screen.

I have a hit and miss relationship with my kindles, dropping one in the bath was one highlight.

Not very good with "tech" stuff - try turning Kindle + router box off - for at least 15 - 20 minutes - then turn on again.
I couldn't access Facebook/Twitter or Yahoo mail (last week on Kindle) - under some "threat" - did the off/on thing - no problems since.
Worth a try?
Good Luck
