Just after some advice. My DD(15) needs a laptop for school and I've not a clue how to research which one will be best. I'm in the uk and have a little budget of up to £200. Any advice will be gratefully appreciated :)

£200 won't buy you much. At that level, you are looking at netbooks (11 inch screen, limited memory) or refurb kit.

This refurb Lenovo should be quite solid and would have been a good spec when new, but it's a second generation core i5. The 3rd generation was released in 2012, so that suggests it's quite old.

Thank you so much for the advice. The budget may be up to £400 now as family are chipping in

I recently paid £350 for one of these in PC World and they are now £430. This one is "ex-demo" for £260, but the seller isn't a name I know www.svp.co.uk/hp-15-bs559sa-15-6in-laptop-silver-intel-core-i3-7100u-4gb-ram-1tb-hdd-windows-10-7453.html

From PC World, this looks good for £380. 128GB is small for a modern hard disk, but really should be enough for school use and it's SSD, which is more robust than a standard hard disk and should be much faster.

Neither of those seem to have a CD/DVD drive, if that matters to you?
