Hi please talk to me like it's the first time I've picked up an iPhone.

I've had them years however I dropped my last one and mu Mum gave me hers.

I've always had issues with storage however this one is driving me mad.

Every time I want to take s photo or even check my emails I get a message saying check storage settings.
I really don't know what I can delete.

I hardly have any apps as it is and there are lots i delete but need.

Please go through everything I can do. I do have loads of photos but need to get them printed.

I have iCloud but not got a clue how to use it.

Thanks x

I think you need to get the photos off of the phone and somewhere else, somewhere backed up and safe.

iCloud can help you with some of this, there are some details here:
support.apple.com/en-gb/HT204264

But be aware the free storage space with iCloud is only 5GB, and that's not a lot compared to the size of phones. So you'll either have to pay money to get more iCloud space, and then keep on paying money to keep the photos there.

Or, and this is what I do, download the photos from your phone onto your computer and then delete them from your phone.

Thanks. I receive an invoice from
iCloud everymonth. How do I put the photos on iCloud or access them after please?

That link should have the instructions.... Roughly what happens is that the photo itself is stored in iCloud and your phone keeps a smaller version, it will then grab the proper one when you want it.

I'm not techy at all but had emails telling me my storage was nearly full and to subscribe to the monthly fee for more storage.

I didn't want to do this as a matter of principle.

I deleted unwanted photos but that didn't make much difference.

What did make a difference though was going over my contacts list and deleting all those so-called contacts that my iPhone decides to store for me even if they are replies from gumtree and suchlike. Getting rid of a few hundred of those freed up loads of memory. Smile

Thank you.

How do i know if the photos have been saved?

How do I then send it back to my phone if I want to print it?

It should just work... The phone should shout up to iCloud when it wants the full photo for printing.

But, that said, I've not done this. I export photos off onto my computer treating my phone in the same way as I used to treat digital cameras.
