We're a new business, very small. we currently have no website, so will need domain name and hostuing etc.

Think it will be a pretty simple site.

I'm going to phone for quotes but have no idea what would be reasonable.

It's hard to say without knowing more - would you be selling things on the site, ie would you need a database and shopping cart facility? Or is it just to give details about what you do and who/where you are?

DH is a web designer and would be happy to give you a quote if you gave him some more details. I have no idea what other designers charge, sorry. If you like, email us on rach at evilchicken dot co dot uk

As for hosting, simple hosting can be as little as £5 a month, up to £10 for more elaborate stuff. The domain would likely set you back about £10 a year (for a .co.uk).

Hope this helps, sorry I can't be more specific!

Rach

Where abouts are you? In certain parts of the UK small companies are entitled to grants for website design and hosting. I've just sorted on eout for my work and we got a grant of £6000.

Just interviewed someone who said hers cost £1K to get designed. Hers is pretty fancy and lovely.

It it's just a simply info site, try www.1and1.co.uk - you can get really cheap hosting and a website creator tool - I think you get about an 8 page website and it's dead easy to do. And it's about £1.50 a month
