I received an email from Apple ID Support a few days ago which I've just looked at in more detail.

The title is: [ New Summary Report Alert] : New Statement Update Account Submitted to Updated Information

The email reads as following:

"Dear EmGee

Your account access has been locked for the following reason(s):

check your account login with other device.
Your account has been locked until this issued has been resolved we will waiting for 1 week or your account has been disabled permanently.

What to do Next:

Please Click the login button below to your Apple account and provide the requested information before: 1 week: through the Account Review, If we don't receive the information before this deadline, Your account access may be further locked permanently.

Manage your Apple ID >

This is an automated message. Please do not reply to this email.

Thanks,

I think it's suspicious as it's littered with grammatical errors - see highlighted sections.
But on the other hand I have been locked out of my account and can't get in!

Can you see the email address it's been sent from? Find that and google it.

It looks like a scam to me.

ALemonyPea · 04/01/2018 16:11

If it’s got a link for you to click, don’t click it! It does sound like spam.

Alwaysreadyforablether · 04/01/2018 16:11

What address has it come from? That's usually a giveaway as it'll be something like apple_support@fraudstersrus

Nomoretears56 · 04/01/2018 16:12

I've got the same one.... It's a scam!! Don't click on anything, delete and ignore.

ALLIS0N · 04/01/2018 16:12

It’s spam

Nomoretears56 · 04/01/2018 16:13

If you've been locked out go to the Apple store and get them to sort it out... DO NOT CLICK ON ANYTHING!!

ItsAllGoingToBeFine · 04/01/2018 16:13

Yes it's dodgy.

Re being locked out

support.apple.com/en-gb/HT204106

If someone repeatedly tried and failed to get into your account it would be locked.

Jayfee · 04/01/2018 16:14

Firstly click on the details word n the email and it will show where the email originated. Secondly contact apple but not through any links in the dodgy email. come back to let us know how you got on.

AethelflaedofMercia · 04/01/2018 16:14

Contact Apple customer services via their website or other trusted method. DO NOT click on any link in the email.

I do sometimes get emails if I've logged in somewhere on a different device, but as you say, the grammatical errors are a sign that it's dodgy.

ThereIsIron · 04/01/2018 16:15

Terrible spelling and grammar ...

"Your account has been locked until this issued has been resolved we will waiting for 1 week or your account has been disabled permanently."

SCAM!

Jayfee · 04/01/2018 16:16

normally i would just delete

Afreshnewyearplease · 04/01/2018 16:18

I had this about 6 months ago! I dont even have an apple account. Also had one saying id spent $100 on a family pass

EmGee · 05/01/2018 09:52

Yes it is a scam. I emailed Apple for confirmation. Unfortunately however I did open the link (!!!!!!!!) which took me to the page asking for all my details...which is when I shut it down.

Argh.......I'm so stupid. What should I do now? Just by opening the link, what can happen????

Others will give more info. but at least you avoided one problem in that you did not enter personal stuff like passwords.
