Laptop advice

I am moving jobs and need to get a new laptop. I will be using this mainly for work and can claim tax back on it.

My needs are simple- easy to use word processor and basic browsing. I will also want to store photos / maybe watch a movie travelling, but generally for work.

I was tempted to get a Mac, but wonder is this being foolish as I am pretty computer illiterate.

Can anyway help guide me? I’m hoping there may be some offers in sales.
Thanks!

If you're a "computer illiterate" I guess it's the other way around from what I gather. Seems very simple and easy to use, and also works with your iPhone, iPad etc. Don't have any of those myself (too expensive).
