Images attached to show what’s happening. LinkedIn thing was on 3G in Greece in May; google search for Curry’s on home WiFi today. I don’t have a VPN & I can’t remember when this started. Phone is iPhone SE, bought new from giffgaff in August 2016. I’m pretty sure the Irish problem didn’t start then.

Most annoying thing (so far) is that I can’t watch BBC iplayer because it thinks I’m not in UK (I wish it would use location services instead!) I had a long online chat with a very helpful BBC person ages ago - she found out about the Amazon Technologies thing then, but we couldn’t get to the bottom of it. I do have an amazon fire stick in my TV, bought in January this year - it was a refurbished one - could it be that? But how could it affect the ISP on my phone?

So this is at home when connected via your WiFi? If it is try switching off the router and waiting 5 minutes, then plugging it back in again.

Thanks, but I’ve done that many times Grin It's been like this for a very long time (but getting worse)

Plusnet (ISP) think it must be giffgaff (phone service) & as the LinkedIn thing happened in Greece I was thinking they were right but earlier I did a whatismyip search with WiFi turned on & then off & got this.

Even more confused now. I’ve sent both images to Plusnet & giffgaff on twitter (the most effective contact, at least initially)

Oh, & this is the laptop, but it’s actually connected to the router & won’t work wirelessly. I might get DH to set that up tonight & see what I get (& try his phone too)

It’s all very mysterious Confused

Fixed via Plusnet on twitter (twitter is so good for this stuff!)

Somebody there had had the same issue himself - apparently my phone was routeing through the fire stick??? God knows how. Anyway I just had to disconnect from wifi & then log in again, with the router password, & bingo! I'm back in the UK & I can watch iplayer again!

Glad you worked it out. I'm in Scandinavia but my browser thought I was in Palo Alto, for some strange reason, so I was told I couldn't stream television "from abroad", it was frustrating.
