Google Mozilla Firefox. You can download it and yes, you can just instal it and use that instead of IE.

Swizzler · 11/04/2007 10:22

Or Safari (tho thatmnight be Mac only). Just had to go back to IE at work at it's really really irritating.

MrsBadger · 11/04/2007 10:26

Safari is indeed Mac only and tbh Firefox is still better (mmm tabbed browsing), though slightly less stable.

lou33 · 11/04/2007 10:27

ie is always "encountering a problem and needs to shut down"

rarely happens in firefox

lou33 · 11/04/2007 10:28

actually the new ie has tabbed browsing too, it just keeps shutting down

MrsBadger · 11/04/2007 10:34

I meant Safari doesn't yet have tabbed browsing.

NappiesGaloreeatsBoysonToast · 11/04/2007 10:35

yes i have tabs.
it just goes all flickery whenever i dare to click on the URL bar...

im getting a new pc soon anyway... but i want to work on here today....wahhhhhhh...

hmmmmm. ok, this is in firefox.

the typeface etc is not quite so...polished looking is it?

when you open IE right click on the icon and select open without add ons. That should help. You can also change the settings so the add ons aren't installed (think you might have to reinstall for that). I had the same problem when I first updated IE but its fine now I've got rid of the add ons.

MrsBadger · 11/04/2007 11:16

nappies, that's microsoft all over though, all polished typefaces but not very functional.

ffox may look clunky but it's solid all through

lou33 · 11/04/2007 11:24

looks the same to me

SoupDragon · 11/04/2007 11:26

I've never noticed any difference in typefaces/polishing

MrsBadger · 11/04/2007 11:31

depends on your settings and the skin you use
on the Mac Firefox looks way better than IE but it's a closer call on the PC.

NappiesGaloreeatsBoysonToast · 11/04/2007 12:59

ooh im a sucker for packaging, me. a well presented cardboard box wins out over a fancy new toy for me, anyday

i am quite rpepared to stick w fifrefox and v grateful for the pointer ladies! it could look like a tiramisu but if it dunt work its bugger all good to me!!
