Help- iPhone, Apple Music, parental controls and bedtime

DS (12yo) has just got an iPhone SE on an EE contract. We are using Qustodio for parental supervision but it's limited in what it can do on the iPhone.

DS loves his music and has taken out an Apple Music subscription and downloaded/added loads of free tracks.
Problem is he wants to listen to these playlists at bedtime and TBH as he has a lot of anxiety around going to sleep (emotional issues) we don't mind.
What we do mind is that the phone keeps him awake as even with the Qustodio lock he can still mess about with songs, text friends and other functions.

Is there any way of getting the Apple Music tracks off the phone onto an MP4 player, basic iPod or anything that gives us the music separate to the phone? Or locking more functions on the phone. Would I need to manually set restrictions each night?

Hi, have a look at this apple site, it may help. If not just google in plain language your problem.

Thanks, I should clarify I have scoured the Apple help pages, chatrooms and googling the problem! But yes you never know whether people have done the obvious.

If you get an iPod touch and sign in with the same Apple ID as he uses on his phone then he should also be able to access his Apple Music. However he’ll also be able to send iMessages, use FaceTime, etc.

How about you getting a Bluetooth speaker for his room then he leaves the phone in your bedroom with the playlist running and Do Not Disturb on so he doesn’t hear any alerts from messages etc.
