Can you use a VPN using a Ruckus wifi?

Have moved into a house that has wifi via a Ruckus system. I am trying to set up Parental Controls for multiple devices (kids iPhones and iPads) but because things like Qustodio and Kidslox seem to run via a VPN, they are not compatible with the Ruckus system that we have.

I've spoken to Ruckus who said that I would need to either downgrade the network that I have with them (currently it is "unleashed" or something to that effect) which I don't want to do. They suggested going via my ISP which is BT and is not that great and doesn't offer protection and site monitoring for multiple devices.

I am pretty sure there must be a way to circumnavigate this issue. Can anyone help. Am not technical so don't really understand jargon. Can usually work these things out myself but the how-to's online have too much jargon to understand what I need to do.

You would need to lower the firewall setting on the router.

How would I do that?

You need to find your router's settings page (the details should be on a sticker or card on the back of it).
