Kids: internet access:Spotify

Want my young teenagers to be able to access Spotify on a device that isn't their phone nor iPads. They show lack of self control if I leave them with their phones overnight. Is my only option an expensive iPod touch that I control with passwords? Any ideas gratefully received.

Disable internet access after a certain time each night? You can even just block certain devices from your router if you access it, if you still want internet yourself

If you already have a laptop/desktop/tablet they can use, then they can access it from the website (app if on a tablet). Another option might be an old smartphone if you have one, delete all the apps except spotify & put a password on app store.

When you say control with passwords what exactly would you need to be able to control? Do you only want them to be able to access certain things etc.

Get the subscription Spotify, have them download whatever songs they want, turn off internet.

Thanks for the ideas. I sound like a crazy old lady. I spend my life nagging and haggling over phones. When I say control I want to be able to stop them being able to downloads apps on to what ever device they listen to Spotify on) I am not techie....got my husband to set up my daughters iPod touch before and he thought he had set it up so she could not download apps on it but either she hacked it or he had not done it properly. Either way I realised she was watching you tube at god knows what ever time of night. Life is easier if they can just put away their phones at a set time at night rather than having to "do something to the phones" with them every night. I do a lot of my work at night (I work from home so want to avoid turning off router (and I did hear of a family on Radio 4 who ended up with the router being put in a safe every night so stop kids surfing at night!). In my ideal world I'd find a cheap internet enabled smart phone/iPod etc, set up a password so they can not load apps on without my permission, and then they can use it for Spotify only but now realised I can't turn
Off iMessage on any apple device. Then it all got complicated with Spotify passwords on too many devices. One of the departments my husband looks after at work is sodding IT so I am a bit annoyed it's on my plate. Sorry for the moan and I hope don't sound so
much of a Luddite......oh I do. Smile
