Netflix and apps on Sony TVs suddenly disappears

Have been watching Netflix quite a lot. No problems. Then suddenly lost it and screen showed a circle giving a percentage which circled around until it displays 25% then says it cannot be connected at that time. I go to the apps e.g. Bbc I player and they are not displaying. I would be grateful for any information anyone has which might help. Is this likely to be our Virginmedia internet although my iPad is working normally?

Sounds a bit like your TV is losing its internet connection.

Alternatively the BBC iPlayer was updated and requires a firmware update on your Sony. Updating firmware may fix both.

Thank you cdtaylornats. I am not sure what a firmware update is or how to do it. I will look in the instruction book. The TV
was set up by John Lewis and I remember having to give them a password etc. I have a virginmedia internet which had a download speed of up to 70mbs but they have just increased it to 100.
