Dc have iPads but 10 year old wants me to unrestricted you tube but I'm reluctant to do this. They don't have free reign to the internet just their apps so he watches videos on apps but they regularly freeze and he gets really annoyed about this ( he has ASD) how can I safely unrestrict you tube? Or can I down load a you tube app and have restrictions on that? I don't want him being able to search and come across things he shouldn't. Any advice?

I think there's a kids YouTube app but I don't know how restrictive it is.

The YouTube kids app has all sorts on if you use the search function rather than just going via their recommendations- my DS watches a lot of train videos!

I second the YouTube kids app. We've used it for a while and there's never been anything inappropriate on it. I read up a bit about it and apparently all the videos are selected from normal YouTube to go onto kids YouTube are screened first. I don't think you can upload directly to kids YouTube.Only the people at YouTube select appropriate videos and they then put them on the kids version.

Sorry meant to say the search engine www.kidrex.com is appropriate for children as it is heavily sensored. Much safer than a grown up search engine.

So are videos like dan tdm on there?

Yes lots from Dan and stampey and squid nugget plus lots of others but mainly minecraftt stuff. There might be some "jeez" or "omg" but nothing that has bothered me with my boy watching it. Also more appropriate adverts too.

Thanks eye maybe I'll download it to see. He's 10 so thinks kids you tube is for babies!

Yep mine says the same thing! It's tough getting the balance right-I mainly fail massively. Smile
