Document Management System

We have a new manager and he wants to implement a document management system in our office. Currently our company is recovering from financial issues and I feel like a system like this is not what we need right now besides transition from paper to digital documents seems tedious. Will this move be advantageous to us? I hope someone here can relate and would be able to enlighten me. Thanks in advance.

Yes, probably will be slightly tedious at the start, but worth it in the long run as long as you have a good process in place for uploading or transferring the documents.
I use one and its good for saving time and we have docs going back years on it. Every is much easier to find than in paper files.

Yes. Doing the archives and indexing will be tedious (get a temp?) But you'll save space, retrieval time and printing costs. No more looking for lost files. More than one person can view a file at once.

What do you need it to do? No point buying something with workflows if you are just scanning, indexing and retrieving? How many people will use It? Too many questions to ask before just picking something at random! I'm used to thumping great corporate systems so I've no idea what's out there for small businesses.

As has been said, its best to list out what you want the software to do. This may give you some ideas. Sorry about the American accent lol.
