Has anyone/would you buy a second hand/refurbished iPad?

I don't have the money for a new iPad mini, my ds has one that is alwsats crashing which Iv always put down to the amount of times the screen has had to be repaired when he was younger. I was thinking about buying second hand then me keeping his one as I need one anyway. I bought a refurb laptop last year and regretted it big time, I don't want to make the same mistake so was after any experiences/thoughts please?

Yes, have always bought a refurbished one through apple. Carries a 12 month warranty etc and you still get the Apple Store support. They are really lovely (I'm not very good at it all!) I got an iPad min, then iPad2 and then got an Apple Watch. Love it. And great service.

Are they much cheaper through Apple? Can I have 3 tablets and my phone on my Apple ID ? The kids tablets obv have parental settings and needs me to put password on etc, how would this work?

Not I pads but have bought iPhones on eBay! Fully refurbished and were fab. Also come with a 1 year warranty. You can have your Apple ID connected to 4 devices no problem. Mine is

Should add I bought a refurbished laptop from CEX and was not impressed. Took it back and swapped for a new one but I think tablets phones etc are easier to wipe clean etc

I have a refrubished iphone. It was like new when i got it and have not had any issues.

eBay worries me though, how do you know your buying from a reputable trader?

Also what's the difference between the mini iPad 2,3 and 4? We have the 2.... I wonder how 'old' that is and if it's worth getting a 3 or 4?

If you're buying from eBay you need to check their feedback! I've had 3 iPhones all from the same seller and not a problem. I don't think there's much difference tbh. I still have an iPad2 and my friend bought the 4 for her daughter. Looks exactly the same

I've bought phones and iPads on eBay. Never had a problem yet. I do check their feedback. I've tended to buy the one below the new model so all the techies who NEED the latest stuff sell on their old stuff. Some are refurbished and are sold by registered businesses.

The newer ones are much thinner and lighter.

I bought 2 refurbished from eBay last yr but they were from Argos outlet on eBay and came with 12 months guarantee, they have both been fine and looked like brand new have had no probs except for one of the chargers stopped working which they replaced immediately.
Also bought heavy duty cases so they are covered front and back to make childproof!!
