What is a .wps file and why can't my mac open it?

Help. I have been sent a .wps file by email and I have no idea how to view the contents on my mac (and no pc to use at the moment). Is there a mac application which will cope with it?

I have emailed back and asked for them to save it as .pdf but not sure how long that will take.

.wps is Ms Works. I've had these before - MS Word copes with them fine, you need to do a weird way to open them, but it copes. Do you have MS Word (I think it exists for macs?).

Otherwise, ask them to save it as an .rtf. That always works fine. Easier to make than a .pdf, too.

Yup, I've got Word for Macs. I will fiddle about and see if I can persuade it to open.

Thanks NQC

It's something like File/Import? And then .wps is possible. If you just try to open it as a normal file, by changing the file filter thingie (if that exists on macs? I'm really ignorant about macs), then it may not open properly.

Hmmm...well I'm getting some words but they're in a bit of random order and no formatting. Getting the jist ( is that how you spell it?) though. Ta
