Recommend a device for email, surfing and using Word/Excel

My Macbook died a while ago and I can't afford another. Can anyone recommend a device for email, Mumsnetting, ebaying and using Word/Excel? It would mainly be used at home and I'd like a decent battery life, budget £250. Needs to have Windows.

Watching interestedly as I need something cheaper, which would be suitable for homework, YouTube, general internet.....

I'd like cheaper too, 500 - £250 is top of my budget.

Word/Excel is provided by google online apps. Boots instantly ut not windows.
