My connection is not private

Suddenly in my browser there is a small circled i in my browser saying my connection to Mn is not private. I've run a scan and changed the wifi password nothing untoward showing up but still getting it. Using chrome on android tablet.
Anyone know how to make my connection safe or anything else I should do?

The most common cause of that is the wrong time/date on your device.

Some anti-virus like Avast free have problems with HTTPS sites and you need to disable scanning HTTPS sites.

I was stressing about this the other day and nearly posted up the very same question. However tried resetting time nothing change, scanned, read something about antivirus software too interfering with google chrome so uninstalled that but nothing changed. Caused me alot of time waisted. However I stumbled accross something online which actually said it was just something new on google chrome and that it will be causing a lot of confusion. So don't panic, sorry I am not very specific, not at all techy. But i got the gist that it was not private anyways if you know what I mean. Just a new symbol to confuse us. I expect someone can give a better response and explanation but I have sinced stopped worrying about it..

The browser is right. Your connection to Mumsnet is not private and never has been. Not your fault - Mumsnet don't use https. If they did all traffic between you and Mumsnet would be encrypted. I'm surprised they haven't moved to https. It isn't difficult, doesn't cost much and would give better security for users.

They do use https for login, and given that any traffic from you to MN is published publicly on the site, no real need for https (though is good practice)
