Problems using Pokemon Go on iphone

Pokemon Go works fine on my phone/network (Samsung, EE) but we're having problems with my son's iphone 5c, O2. Quite often it doesn't connect or loses connection to the game, or an error message will state "Safari can't open the page because the server cannot be found".

I went to the O2 store who just sort of shrugged their shoulders but I'm paying for 30gb data per month specifically so my son can play this game and also listen to You Tube - which also causes similar problems.

Seems fine when we're at home using wifi.

I just spoke to Apple who reckon it's O2, not providing enough cellular strength or something. But if that's the case, surely it would be common knowledge that people on O2 were not able to play Pokemon Go or go on You Tube?

I see. I think it changes...at the moment it's on 4G and unable to play Pokemon Go using mobile data. I live in north west London (Hendon) area but had this problem in other areas too.

Ds is with tesco mobile that uses the O2 network and there are places in our town where he can't play it. I sometimes use my phone to make a mobile hot spot for him as I get ok coverage with EE

I'm changing my provider shortly purely as I cannot get a 3g signal with vodafone in my town, yet it's fine on o2. I stupidly assumed that if a town had 3g, it'd be fine for everyone, not so! (BTW 30gb data is a HUGE! amount... are you sure he needs that much?)

We are thinking of swapping dd/ds to EE too

dementedpixie I don't really get the mobile hot spot thing...I'm guessing it takes up your mobile data to make a mobile hot spot for him? In which case I might as well just let him play it on my phone. Problem is I only get 1GB.

FoofFighter I've been told to stay away from vodaphone! Yes, 30gb is huge...it was basically part of a dual deal my mum got, and she swapped her sim card with him so he had the 30gb (whereas she only has 2!). It was so he could listen to music on youtube and play Pokemon Go withtout worrying.

Yes it uses your data but then I can't give him my phone as I play pokemon go too.

Ds is also supposed to get 4G but some areas near us seem to lose coverage (scotland)

I've been with O2 for about ten years but I am going to swap networks when I next change my phone. I don't think the network coverage is great. My husband is on EE and does much better when we are out together. So I reckon it's a network issue.

I think you could be right eurochick. I'm with EE and never had a problem with Pokemon Go.
