How to install Pokemon Go account onto Iphone?

I have the Pokemon Go app on my (Samsung) phone, installed via Google Play which my son has been using. He now has his own iphone. Is there a way of transferring this app so it has all his levels saved? I've tried going on Google Play on his iphone but not really getting anywhere!

He should just need to download from the App Store and log in using the same details - either the same email account he used, or the same Pokemon Club details.

I am not sure if pokemon and items transfer between Android and iOS, though, he may find that he can log in to the same username and keeps his level but has to start again on a new operating system.

Google Play won't work on his iPhone - the apps are totally different, and most of the techniques to get iOS to read Android apps require jailbreaking and quite technical, and often absolutely crap.

Ahhhh thanks AnchorDownDeepBreath no wonder I wasn't getting very far! I've tried to go into the App store to download Pokemon Go but have managed to lock myself out so just waiting for a recovery email now.
