DH has finally got a smart phone and I've gone and balsed it right up.

I downloaded Whatsapp for him so we could send one another pics of the DC and I put in my email address to register Whatsapp. It's loaded up fine but now, his contact list is chokablok FULL of my contacts - they amount to over 500 even though I've deleted loads over the years - it seems my iPhone has 'remembered ' the bloody lot and passed them onto DH's phone. He's cursing me loudly as we speak.

How can I sort this? I want to rewind the last 30 mins of my meddling even if it means losing Whatsapp.

Uninstall then reinstall.
One you do this sign in with a different account. He can't use your sign in anyway as you won't be able to contact each other

How exactly do I do that?

There's two ways.

1. Go to apps in the settings menu, find WhatsApp and delete/uninstall

Or Go to play store, find WhatsApp and select uninstall

Also, some phones allow you to uninstall from the app screen with a long key press and either an x or a rubbish bin appears, press the x or drag app to the bin.
This won't work on the home screen as it will just remove the widget and the app will still be in the app menu

Oh and finally, he should have a Gmail account for the phone? Use this to register WhatsApp, or his Facebook (I think)

All thank you - yes, that's half the issue - I've used MY gmail so he's also now receiving MY mail

I'm used to iPhones so navigating this is a mystery. I couldn't even find his App Store so sent him a Whatsapp invite !

How do I also delete my email from his phone?

My best advice would be to start again as the initial email used to set up makes everything work. In the settings menu (swipe down or tap at the top of the screen or open apps list from centre button) then go to factory reset.
Start over with a new Gmail account for him.
If you don't do this all his apps, backups and notifications will go to your account.
The "app" store is called play store.

If you don't want to do that go to settings, the accounts and disable email account from there.

Update: Whatsapp is uninstalled but he's still having my gmail updated yet there's no sign of it the email button of his phone. I can't find it in accounts either. How can I uninstall my email?!

The whole phone runs using the Gmail account so it starts up at login.
I think you will have to restore to factory settings and start over.

When you go to accounts in the settings menu can you see Google?
Tap that and you should get a list of what is syncing.
You could tell it not to sync the mail, but I still think you should start again😀
