Setting up a blog

Hi

I have recently set up my own business. I have a website through go daddy. I also purchased my domain name with them too.

I have a FB page, twitter account and a LinkedIn profile.

I have been advised to write a blog, so I can include content marketing.

I know I need a word press account, but I'm clueless as to how to set that up.

Do I go through go daddy again? Or set it up separately?

How do I get it to link to my social media accounts?

Is it difficult?

I'd really appreciate any advice being aimed at a complete novice child

And also any links to easy instructions.

Hiya - it's fairly straightforward - if you go to Wordpress.com (NOT .org) then just sign up there to start setting up your blog.

Chose a blog name that works with your website/brand name - it can be anything you want but will have to be available (not taken by someone else).

As you are hosting your blog on the Wordpress platform, your blog website link will include your chosen name and 'Wordpress' eg: www.yourblogname.wordpress.com - but as it's a free service to you there's no way round that, and it's perfectly acceptable to have this type of URL for your blog.

There are free templates you can choose to display your blog and you can link your social media accounts quite easily in the admin panel.

Go Daddy isn't very Wordpress.com friendly in terms of widgets (little pieces of code that allow you to embed other systems into your website) so for now I would suggest you just create a URL link to your blog, eg: click here for the blog - and put the link behind it.

There are tons o info groups on the net to help you get started - set one up as a trial sure if you want to practice - it doesn't cost anything and you can use it as a sandbox for your 'proper' site, to try stuff out etc.

Set it separately through WordPress. If you don't know how to set it up, go for a pre-designed responsive wordpress themes
