Which macbook air?

I am buying a reconditioned macbook for my 13 year old dd. She wants a 13" screen but we are confused which model to go for.

So memory and storage....I have no idea. She'll be using it mainly for homework using word/powerpoint etc and internet. Nothing fancy or using graphics or anything like that.

Also is it worth paying more for a later model? The ones we are looking at range from 2013 - 2015.

I have a 2103 one with a 13" screen and it's great with word/powerpoint/internet.

Double up on memory so 8giga. I've been looking at the 13" myself. They only weigh a bit more than iPad. Lovely.
I get ours reconditioned from the Mac store. They come fully guaranteed which I always think is worth it.
