Nexus 7 not opening

I have a 3.5 year old Nexus tablet. So far it's been OK but recently it's been getting slower and when I swipe to unlock it refuses to. Sometimes it will after a few goes and sometimes I have to turn on and off. Is this the end? Will a factory reset help and will that mean I lose all my sims progress? Any other ideas?

download and run something like Clean master and make sure it's updated to the latest version of android.

all my Nexus devices massively slow down after awhile and its accumulated stuff still running in the background that is eating up all the memory. Clean master will shut them.all down and tidy it up.

you can also do it manually in apps.
