iPad memory and wifi/ cellular

I am looking for an iPad for DD and want to keep the price down but am not convinced 16gb will be enough - she will mainly be using apps and possibly taking photos so would a pain to run out of storage.

Also not convinced just wifi would work as she gets older (she is 8 now) and she would outgrow it too quickly.

Any experiences or suggestions?

I would consider a different sort of tablet but do prefer iPads myself and this is her preference too which I realise hikes the price up immediately.

I look after 30 16 Gb iPads at the school I work at and I have to make sure I upload photos and videos regularly to make sure there's enough room. Unless you have a computer you can use, or are happy to pay for more than the basic iCloud storage, and don't mind uploading often I'd go for a bigger tablet.
Apps vary massively in size (both their original size and the amount of data they store). My apps vary from 1.1Gb for a game with very high quality graphics down to 200kb for a very simple game where you just move one line at a time.
With the wifi/3G/4g issue, how often would your DD be using it away from home? Trains and even buses now often have wifi, some of them don't even need you to sign in (but get a junk only email address to use with those that do). And don't forget you need to pay extra for mobile data.

Thanks for your reply. We have a tablet at the moment with only wifi and she seems quite happy about that but wondering if it might change in future or whether we will need to upgrade before then anyway.

Our current iPads have 3G but we never use it as there's free wifi everywhere! It's not worth the extra expense imo.
