Minecraft for iMac

Sorry for the stupid question but how do I get minecraft for our iMac? Is it a CD? a download? It would be great if someone could tell me where to buy it from. I've had a little look online but got confused almost straightaway . Thanks!

It's a download. I downloaded it from minecraft.net - cannot any longer see exactly what you need to click as I log in and it says I already have it.

I bought it there online, I think it was 17.99
