Has the free Windows 10 upgrade fucked anyone else's laptop??

I downloaded it yesterday. It failed at first attempt but worked second time.
The only issue so far is that my banking websites aren't compatible with Windows Edge.

All I can advise is go back to your previous version of Windows immediately. Mine has got progressively slower over the last fortnight and now won't even load the settings page so I can go back! Driving me bananas I'm desperately trying to fix it, literally getting a window to come up is taking half an hour! Security etc is as it was so god knows what the problem is!

The upgrade package has arrived on my machine but I have not installed it. If I got to Win10, then want to roll back to Win7, or dual-boot, how do I do it?

I have a home accounts package which is not Win10 compatible and is very important to me.

You can go back to Windows 7 etc in system settings but my laptop is going absolutely nothing. I've read a few internet articles on my phone about this update being full of problems and an absolute waste of time delete the installation thing and stay put I feel like throwing this laptop through the window. And phoning bill gates to call him a cunt

Hmm. DS2's is fine, he got it ages ago his computer is newer and better than mine. I wouldn't have gone ahead with it otherwise as I'm normally cautious about updates.

I had problems the first time I upgraded and rolled back to Win7. I have upgraded again more recently and am currently very happy with it.

Two other computers (a laptop and a PC) in my household have also been upgraded without problems.

Rolling back is straightforward for the first month after upgrade. Go to Start, Settings, Update & security then select Recovery. You should then see an option to go back to Windows 7.

Dual boot is more complicated. You can find some instructions here.

If you want to go back I suggest you search for "Recovery". That should allow you to go straight to the Recovery page without going through Settings. You may also want to try creating Windows 10 media (bootable DVD or flash drive) and doing a fresh install. A number of people report that this resolves performance issues.

I'll steer clear for a couple of years. Windows 8 was a bad enough upgrade and after much struggling I've finally got it working reliably. (Although I do wish my laptop would go to sleep properly and not drain the battery overnight from time to time. Also it would be nice if the charm bar to the right of the screen wouldn't fail to appear once the laptop has been on a while.)

With the upgrade to Windows 8 a number of preferred applications became unusable. I wonder how many more I'd lose upgrading to Windows 10?

I 'upgraded' at end of August on a ten month old laptop. No end of trouble since, I have to restore system every 48 hours. I've been on to various technicians at different levels at Microsoft and I'm currently waiting for a phone call from a Global Escalation technician who has been trying to resolve this for me for the last month. The laptop is useless, can't access emails, upload photo or edit documents that I created as I'm 'not authorised'! It's been a disaster, I do free lance book-keeping but have been unable to do anything workwise for a fortnight and I suspect that when this is resolved my accounting package will have been wiped. Windows 10 is just a great advert for Mac pcs afaic.

I'm running win 10 on a new desktop and a 3 year old laptop and its running just fine.

I ran the upgrade and all my data was fine, the oly things I lost were some old games but MS disabled them on Win7 up due to a security problem.

Anything that ran on Win 7/8 should be happy on win 10.

Well it crashes my fairly new laptop when I first tried to install it. I had to completely restore it back to basics.

I've tried a times since but it won't install the updates to update it. Different error messages come up all the time so I've given up.

I hate windows 8, surely 10 has to be better...
