2ds vs 3ds skylanders

Can anyone tell me will the skylanders port work on a 2ds please :)
I'd prefer to get DS7 a 2ds to a 3ds but skylanders definitely needs to work!

All 3DS games work on 2DS so Skylanders will work fine but why do you prefer 2DS to 3DS? It's really meant for kids 1-5 at 7 your son should have no trouble with the 3DS

Also know he wouldn't use the 3D part.
