How do I use 'Handbrake' to copy a DVD

Handbrake is for ripping a dvd usually, Nero is much more user friendly and will just copy it. Disclaimer: I don't use DVDs.

What is the difference between ripping & copying?

I need to rip it as I want to edit a clip of DD for a show reel
