Yahoo mail - where has 'Forward only' option gone?!

Hello MN tech whizzes,

I've been having all my yahoo mail forwarded to my gmail account for a couple of years (because yahoo mail is shit but my address is so old that people have it from waaaay back and I don't want to lose them).

It used to be set to forward only, but the other day I noticed it had started to store emails as well as forward them, and when I went in to change back the settings (not sure why they've changed? I certainly didn't change them, I hardly ever log in there any more), the forward only option is no longer there - only 'store and forward' or 'store, forward and mark as read'. What's going on?!

Does it matter that it's storing there?

Yahoo probably don't want you to do that, from their point of view it makes little sense.

I'd they've allowed it up to now, though, I'd double check that nobody else has access who could have changed the settings, and then contact support.

Yes I am having the same yahoo email forwarding problem as you. It previously gave a "forward only" option but now you have to "forward and store" and yes it's a serious problem and I don't know the solution.

A story recently broke about yahoo secretly scanning all emails for the US government. Seems very likely they made this change to email forwarding so that they can scan your email for the US government before sending it to other email provider.
