Cheap tablet for watching bbc iplayer

Our first gen iPad is no longer compatible with iplayer (or youtube), and on reflection and looking at the prices if iPads, all we use it for is kids apps & watching bbc iplayer. Presumably this is possible on something cheaper? Any recommendations?

1st or 2nd generation Nexus 7. Cost as little as £80.

Kindle Fire works really well.Think you can buy it now for about £100

Where do you watch it? Amazon Fire stick is only £35 but you use it with a tv. You can have all the on demand channels on it and YouTube

Hudl2 is fine and pretty kid proof.

Should have said we watch it offline eg car journeys etc so needs to be something that can happen without wifi/3G.
