Help! My computer is talking to me

I've obviously lent on a button for sight impaired users, so it is giving me a running commentary on whatever I do.

Not a mac/iPad just an ordinary pc laptop with Windows. Any ideas what I have pressed and how I make it go away?

Thank you

God, I've done this on the Mac and it was bloody awful to sort out.

I think this is it

To turn off Narrator, press Alt+X, Y.

Thanks Tribpot. That looks right, but all I get is the annoying voice saying "Alt, X, Y!" (Half expected her to yell "Don't press that! Don't switch me off!" but unfortunately she is still muttering away - muted)

Any other ideas, anyone?

Aha - knowing that it was called the Narrator helped me to find it by searching settings.

Have silenced her. Thanks Tribpot.
