Can't connect to new printer

I am really struggling here. I am trying to help my mum set up her new printer. It has a wifi connection, I can do a nozzle test and test print from the laptop (Windows 7), and the printer is set as default on the laptop. It is an Epson XP-625 in case that means anything to anybody.

So why won't it print anything? It is probably something really simple but it is doing my head in.

Can anybody help please?

What programme are you printing from ? Is the printer set as the default, so that it shows in say Word when you go to print a document?

Yes, it is set as default and shows up in the print box when I try to print something. Weird.

There is no Word on this laptop. My mother had been using her desktop for that but it is running Windows XP so can't connect to the new wireless printer. I think she might need to add Office to her laptop now. I have been downloading things from the internet and emails to print.

I don't understand how the laptop and the printer can connect for a nozzle test or a test print but not for an actual proper print.

I,ve had much the same problem with my HP wireless printer, the following worked for me
Open Devices and Printers, right click the printer, click troubleshooting, let the troubleshooter run and then try again.
