iPad paste function

Got an iPad Air, running 8.3. The copy/paste function is bonkers! I can copy OK, but when I try to paste in, say, this box in MN Talk, the options disappear faster than I can get my finger to pick one. They just flash up - after I've had to keep my finger absolutely still on the place I want to paste to, for several seconds - and disappear immediately. It's driving me mad.

Does anyone else get this and what do you do about it?

My iPad2 started to do the same thing when I foolishly updated to iOS8 - I keep hoping its going to get corrected with newer updates but no luck so far. It's irritating.

It's particularly bad on Mumsnet. I find if you press and hold for a little while you can get it to work a bit better.

I'm disappointed that you're on 8.3 because I haven't updated from 8.2 yet and I was hoping 8.3 would fix it.

It's intermittent for me, it's actually working perfectly for me at the moment but it was a real pain yesterday. As Planet Earth says holding for a bit seems to make it better.

Updating to 8.3 as I type. (It's been a busy time so I'm just on it.) I'll see how it goes.

Mine not only does that, but pastes old quotes or links in. Eg, tried to paste a link into fb last night and it pasted the last old quote I'd used on here.

HermiaDream I get that on Google on the iPad too - grr, drives me mad. DH says its a bug in Google rather than the iPad itself.

He also said 'but why do you type into the search box, just type what you want straight into the bar at the top'. Apparently using the search box in a search engine is SO Noughties, don't you know...

I still haven't updated to ios 8 yet - keep waiting for it to settle down first...

Hermia and Marshmallow, I get that with Google too! Drives me batshit crazy . My geeky bro also said it was a Google thing, rather than Apple OS (and he says why don't I just type into the address bar, too).

With the pasting, it does seem to be at its worst here on MN; I sometimes have to press and hold for up to 10 seconds, at which point I decide not to bother pasting after all. So many people have lost valuable links from me as a result - their lives are undoubtedly blighted. Apple could be looking at a Class Action worth squillions from disappointed blighted MNers who have been unable to follow my links to Etsy.

I do hate it though, and it is vvvvv annoying, but I am glad it's not my stupidity causing it.

Miranda, which iOS are you on then? Can I install a 7 version?

Just to be different, I am on 8.3 and have never had an issue with pasting. Very weird.

Jux it's all these IT dudes in our lives telling us how we're doing it wrong, I don't know! Clearly we're all hopeless!

I only ever MN on my phone though so no issues there for me.

Annie It depends what iPad you have. It doesn't effect everyone but if you google the issue you will see its a widespread problem for those of us with older iPads. Mine used to work perfectly ok but the iOS8 updates have buggered it.

I find the whole copy/paste thing has gone bonkers with the newest iOS (iPad Air). Even managing to copy just the bit you want on MN seems virtually impossible.

Oh ok. I have an iPad Air on iOS 8.3 and don't seem to be having any issues.

It's so annoying. But will work eventually if somewhat randomly, which is also annoying
