DD - iPod touch - how best to manage

DD has saved and saved and finally has enough to get her own iPod touch. DH and I are largely ok with this, and she is clear that it will have limits of use and so on.

I have an apple account which runs my phone, the family mac, and the family iPad but DH has kept his completely separate as he uses it for work.

Am I best off adding DD's touch to my apple account, or setting up a new account for her? I just can't quite picture the best way it will run but what I do know is that once you plunge with a certain account, it can be difficult to move and so on. I don't want her to get all my apps and so on and want control over exactly what she has on there. She understands all this, so I just want the easiest/most sensible way to administer it.

She doesn't need a mobile phone for another 2-3 years so this is purely for apps, music and games in case that makes any difference to how one might set it up.

TIA for any tips.

If you don't want her to have a phone you will need to ensure she doesn't load Skype.

I set up a separate apple account for my two. They don't know the apple ID so have I ask me before they downaloding anything.
No credit card attached, so iTunes gift vouchers if they want to buy anything.

Also, they at not allowed to have a PIN lock number that I don't know and I will check what they're doing with it whenever I like. I do random checks.

I also say no devices upstairs without permission.

We've had a few incidents, especially with social media, but I make sure that they know I'm watching them ALL THE TIME.

Oh and if they get caught doing something they shouldn't, swift removal of devices. I'm not averse to very lengthy bans for bad behaviour.

Thanks all, I will do some investigating. And Red - yes, clear lines will be set right from the outset and it's only going ahead on the basis that I can access everything and have total control over what is downloaded. Thems is the rules!

And mom - I will look into that. Thanks
