Personal Organizers for Families

Hello,

I'm looking for some advice from some Mums out there on personal organizers for families. I'm currently working on a personal/family organizer which is similar to an online Filofax meant for people who find it hard keeping on top of everything. I'd love to know if (like me!) you struggle to keep on top of managing a family and work and how you manage all these demands.

Thanks so much!

Bea

I use Google calendar. My DCs and I have Android phones so when I create an event I just include them in it as invitees and it appears in their calendars. They will then also get notifications on their phones before the event time to remind them. I've also got my work Outlook calendar synced to my phone so I can see work events and personal events in one view.

I also use Google Keep a lot for things like shopping lists and general note-taking for both personal and work stuff. Keep doesn't have sharing built-in but my DCs don't use it anyway so it's no loss. For shared documents (eg, birthday lists) we tend to use Google Drive.

On a more general note I would point out that there are eleventy-bazillion online organisers available. Just do a web search for "organiser app" to see. If you're aiming to create yet another one you'd really need something special to stand out from the crowd.

You'd also likely need to incorporate calendar sync with a number of other calendar systems like Outlook and iCal. Reliable two-way sync with third-party calendars is trickier than it looks. How things like repeating events, all-day events and timezones are managed on different platforms is not straightforward.

Wonderful advice thanks so much. Do you find using all these keep the stress levels down amongst you all?
