Kindle fire or other e-reader?

I want to buy DP a kindle for his birthday. He has no tablets or e-readers at all at the moment and he has hinted he'd like a kindle.
There are so many out there now I am perplexed, any reviews or guidance would be appreciated

A Kindle Fire is not like a Kindle only better. It's a cheap tablet.

If he wants "a kindle" he probably wants an e-reader, not a tablet. Something that is just for looking at books, with a long battery life.

Kindle Voyage is the fanciest one available at the moment - it light up a bit so you can read in dim light (but not as shiny as looking at a screen).

I agree, if he wants an E reader then splash out on the Kindle Voyage.
