What kit is needed to make gaming videos

My DS wants to make gaming videos when he makes the switch from Xbox to Xbox One (he's been saving all year, hoping to get it just after Xmas). He has mentioned that he will need to get kit for making the videos and uploading them to you tube and this will need to include a PC or laptop (or Mac mini?) presumably for editing the videos. At the moment he has an iPad mini which I'm guessing wouldn't be powerful enough.

If you were starting from scratch, what would you need to get?

Can anyone help?

I can imagine he would need a computer/laptop which runs microsoft windows on it.

He has to join some developer forum to get help with spec for it.

On that page they mention www.dreamspark.com/ as a source for software but he or you would need to read what he really needs.

There may be also books available to help you set him up for development.

How old is he?

He's 13. A few of his friends have done it and he seems keen to give it a try. Was hoping to get something for Xmas towards it but not sure what laptop or software I'd need. Thanks for the Google search. I'll check it out.

ask his friends what sPec they have but 8 GB RAM is min. IMHO

I guess the latest windows is a must.

Keyboard and monitor can be second hand.

On the old Xbox, you needed extra equipment, but, according to this, all you need is already on the Xbox 1

Would he needs Windows or would a Mac be ok? He has an iPad mini so was thinking of getting a Mac mini but I realise this isn't Windows compatible.

I believe you can run Windows on Mac.

I am seeing articles that development of games was promised to be made simple via Xbox One.

Can you ask your son's friends how they do it?

I'm assuming he just wants to upload videos of the games he is playing. The Xbox 1 has it all on the machine

TBH - I am very confused looking at various links. There are unauthorized articles on how to make some menu available in Xbox one to enable it to be a development environment but so far I haven't come across anything official from Microsoft...

Maybe you don't need separate computer any more?
His friends would know the answer!
