We have Sonos - three systems in the house. We tend to use with Spotify, albeit back in the day we had a giant server with ripped CD content. I like it. We had a Squeezebox bought as a present before and the technology was too immature but I think Sonos works fairly well.

We have controller apps on our phones and laptops. We've also got different zones but you can link them through.

The set up with our other kit (Panasonic TV, surround sound, bathroom speakers, laptops etc was quite straightforward)

Also using sonos and also think it works well.

Thanks for feedback.
What is the app like to use? Is it intuitive or clunky?
I guess you can only stream Spotify to one room at a time?

Easy to use, no you can stream any music to all sonos at once, or individual speakers or any combination. You can group or zone them.

You do need a PC or server somewhere with the sonos software on it though I found to make the controller apps work ok on the phones/tablets.

I love my Sonos system. I control it via apps on my phone, tablet, imac etc. I started off with two Play 1's in the kitchen which I use as a stereo pair and added a third in the lounge. My plan is to add another when funds allow followed by a subwoofer. If you buy now you get a 12 months free subscription to Deezer.

I weighed all the pros and cons of bluetooth and airplay speakers and decided to bite the bullet with Sonos and haven't regretted it for a minute. Great sound and the apps are very intuitive

We have the Bose system. It's great although we have had a couple of hiccups with software updates. Their help desk has been great at sorting these but it would have been better if the support were not needed in the first place.

We originally bought a Sonos system but took it back because the TV sound bar would not synch with the picture. It was like watching a badly dubbed film! It drove me a bit bonkers so we took the whole lot back and went for Bose instead. The sound quality for music was very good though.

We have sonos as well - don't ask me how it works, it's pure magic. I control it with through itunes on the ipad, though dh and ds use their phones.

A brilliant invention

We've got olde fashioned amp and surround sounds speakers with woofer

Thank you - all very helpful as although we want to go 'sonos' we have our old, great audio equipment as well as as modern tech.

Sonos connect is what you need I believe to link your sonos network to your existing AV equipment. Haven't tried it as have only got sonos now as found it so good.
