Printer for an ipad?

I'd like to get one for DD (10) She's enjoying using 'pages' to make documents.
Do I need 'Airprint' or whatever it is.
And then would she still be able to use it with a basic Windows laptop (supposing she were to get one in the future)
Needs to be pretty easy to use.

I have an HP Envy 4500 from which I can print remotely from my iphone 5, windows laptop and Mac desktop. Connects via wireless. It is very pleasing

We've got a HP Photosmart 7520 which seems to work very well from our iPads and my iPhone.

DH set it up, it seemed to be straightforward enough!

I've got a cheapo HP wireless printer which seems to work so far!

My wireless canon Pixma(some numbers) has an app that enables me to print from my iPad.
